Avride's Robotaxi is a Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric SUV fitted with Avride's autonomous driver. In December 2025 Avride and Uber launched robotaxi rides in Dallas: riders requesting UberX, Uber Comfort or Uber Comfort Electric in a 9-square-mile area from Downtown to Deep Ellum can be matched with an Avride car, initially with an on-board specialist behind the wheel and fully driverless operation planned. The car sees 360 degrees for several hundred metres through five high-resolution lidars, four radars that detect vehicles up to 300 m away and thirteen cameras that read colours, brake lights and traffic signals. Avride designs its own lidars: the roof lidar reaches over 300 m at 0.1-degree resolution and side lidars with no blind spots cover 50 m. It localises with centimetre-level precision against Avride's own 3D lidar maps rather than GPS, cleans its sensors physically and in software, and runs perception, prediction and planning on a server-grade onboard computer.
