Miko Chess Grand is an electronic chessboard with a robotic mechanism under the playing surface that moves the pieces by itself. It was developed by Square Off, the Mumbai chessboard maker in which Miko took a 70% stake in 2022, and is now sold in the Miko store under the Miko Chess name. A magnetic H-bot mechanism driven by an Arm Cortex M0 controller glides the pieces across 64 squares of 1.5 inches each. The board connects over Bluetooth Low Energy 4.1 to a companion app on iPhone or Android, which adds tutorials, puzzles, game history and move analysis. Players can face the built-in engine at 20 difficulty levels, play a friend face to face and record the game, or play remote opponents from the Square Off community, with the opponent's moves made physically on the board. It can also replay live professional matches and automatically returns the pieces to their starting squares after each game. The board measures 23.74 x 19.05 x 1.92 inches (about 603 x 484 x 49 mm), weighs 5.4 kg, has a rosewood finish and runs from a 12.6 V power adapter. A Harry Potter edition is sold separately.
