Big Boy 85 is an automatic pallet-truck-type vehicle that moves tissue, paper or textile coils of up to 8.5 tonnes lying horizontally on supports, lifting supports about 400-600 mm off the floor. It navigates with a rotating-head laser and has front and rear laser scanners plus side bumpers that extend automatically outside the support profile while it drives. Like Esatroll's other vehicles it is designed and built in-house in Switzerland and adapted to each customer's plant, and it can be run by Esatroll's customised supervisor, which takes calls from workstations, assigns vehicles, manages right of way and load delivery and logs activity.
