Abi is a personalised robot companion built by Andromeda Robotics for aged care and assisted living. It is not an automation product: the goal is companionship, and it was co-designed with care providers around what actually holds residents' attention. Abi works one-to-one in residents' rooms, where social isolation is hardest to reach, and also leads small-group singing, dancing, games and conversation. It is fluent in 90 languages, which matters most for residents whose first language is not spoken by staff — often the first such conversation they have had in a long while. Underneath, advanced AI and machine learning models let it recognise faces, understand and express emotion, and recall conversations from days or months earlier, so contact accumulates into a relationship rather than resetting each visit. It picks up personal cues, whether that is switching language, joining daily prayers or listening to the same fond memory again. Abi was created in Melbourne, Australia and is now offered in the United States as well. Andromeda sells it on individual contracts sized to the number of robots a community needs, with onboarding and ongoing support; no list price is published.
