Unitree GD01

The GD01 is a manned mecha from Unitree Robotics, unveiled on 12 May 2026 and billed by the company as the world's first production-ready machine of its kind. It stands roughly 2.7 metres tall and is piloted from inside rather than remotely: at its debut, Unitree CEO Wang Xingxing strapped into the cockpit, drove it forward and used its mechanical arms to smash through walls. Unitree describes it as transformable and says it can operate as a civilian vehicle, and puts its weight at about 500 kg with a person inside. It is priced from 3.9 million yuan, about US$650,000, although a Unitree representative told the Global Times that this is only a preliminary reference price and that the final production version may be adjusted depending on performance optimisation, acknowledging the figure remains high. The company describes it as a special model rather than a volume product.
