Keipu is AIZUK's transfer-and-mobility robot for nursing care, designed so that the user boards it from behind instead of being lifted or turned by a caregiver: with no backrest and an electrically height-adjustable seat set to the height of the bed, the user slides straight from the bed onto the seat, reducing the burden on both user and caregiver. It turns on the spot through 360 degrees, with a turning radius about half that of a wheelchair (roughly a quarter of the floor area), so it can enter and leave toilets and lifts moving forwards. The user steers it with a one-hand joystick and five speed levels, and it has password and speed-limit functions, an operating-time display, height-adjustable handrails, a seat belt and a horn. It measures 61 x 73 x 105 cm (W x D x H), weighs 47.3 kg with battery, has a seat height of 43-63 cm, carries users up to 75 kg at up to 2 km/h forward, climbs 6-degree slopes, charges in 4-5 hours and runs about 2 hours 40 minutes (about 5.4 km) per charge.
