The INSPECTOR Grinding Robot removes weld roots inside pipe systems. Weld roots on the inner wall can be mistaken for small tears in ultrasonic, eddy current, radiographic or dye penetrant testing, so grinding them down gives more reliable inspection results and, according to Inspector Systems, makes the weld more resistant to mechanical and thermal wear. The robot can be deployed through gate valves in the line and is controlled remotely to reach the chosen weld. Inspector Systems says the robot technology and its qualified grinding and polishing process are approved by national and international companies and risk management organisations, and it also builds versions to customer requirements.
