BESCHREIBUNG
The Shoebox Picker is Nomagic's robotic cell for the one item fashion warehouses could not automate. Shoeboxes make up around 20% of fashion e-commerce merchandise, and their hinged, unsealed lids defeat the vacuum clamps and finger grippers used elsewhere — so the workflow stayed manual. Nomagic reports the system handles 98% of shoebox types in any orientation. Two things make that possible. The mechanical gripper is built for hinged and unsealed lids, size variation and arbitrary orientation, rather than assuming a flat sealed surface to suck onto. Above it, AI perception identifies each box's type, position and orientation and works out the optimal approach angle and grip points, which removes the requirement to pre-orient items — the constraint that usually forces a human back into the loop. It carries payloads up to 4 kg with a grip spanning 7 to 60 cm and handles fragile packaging. The cell is process-agnostic across picking, packing and sorting, integrates with existing warehouse workflows, and runs for eight hours without human intervention, backed by 24/7 monitoring and support. It won the IFOY 2026 award in the Robot Warehouse System category.
