The Kanatokhod Strekoza ('Dragonfly') is CableWalker's diagnostic line-crawling drone for contact inspection of 35-500 kV overhead power lines. Its design lets it land on a live conductor without de-energising the line and travel along it, carrying out video monitoring, laser scanning, magnetic flaw detection of the wire, installation of repair equipment and diagnostics of adjacent line elements. It is a hexacopter weighing 14.9 kg without batteries and 17 kg ready to fly (maximum take-off mass 25 kg, payload 1.1 kg), powered by two 16,000 mAh 22.2 V batteries. It flies for up to 20 minutes or works for up to 3.5 hours while moving along a wire or ground wire, covering up to 2 km along the line per charge, with an optimal working radius of 2 km (up to 5 km). It reaches 22 m/s in flight, uses GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou with 0.01 m positioning, a 1920 x 1080 camera and 5.8 GHz and 915 MHz links, operates from -30 to +50 C in winds up to 10 m/s, is rated for live-line work on 35-220 kV conductors, and measures 1,470 x 1,650 x 600 mm including propellers.
