FreeHand 2.1 Panorama is a compact robotic camera positioning system that gives the surgeon direct, hands-free control of the laparoscope during minimally invasive surgery, providing a stable, tremor-free view without a human camera holder. It consists of a robotic motion assembly, a control box and user input interfaces, forming a self-contained system that fits into standard operating rooms; the modular design allows quick setup, secure positioning and flexible placement within the sterile field. The robot moves the camera over several axes with pan, tilt and zoom, under software control with selectable speeds, and holds its position without drift. The surgeon steers it with head movements, so the view can be adjusted without interrupting the operation, and single-use sterile components form the barrier between robot and surgical field. It runs on universal mains power with medical-grade electrical protection, meets EMC requirements including immunity to surgical energy devices, and is a Class I medical device under the EU MDR. MediAkris introduced the upgraded Panorama 2.1 into clinical use in Riga, Latvia, in September 2026, across four laparoscopic procedures including hernia repair.
