FlyPit is an automatic bedding robot sold by BouMatic that spreads fresh bedding in cubicles or straw-bedded pens several times a day. The farmer only fills its port with round or square bales, which a patented chopping system and straw screen cut automatically, and the shredded material is fed to the robot by conveyor belt or directly from the port before it sets off on its programmed circuit. It can also spread separated slurry solids, fermentation residues, wood chips and other granular bedding. The quantity is set for each animal group and area, which BouMatic says can cut straw use by up to 50% while keeping lying areas dry and hygienic, and the design limits dust, with an optional dust extraction system. Bedding runs are planned and monitored from a smartphone, tablet or PC through the same interface as the Butler Gold Pro and Shuttle Eco.
