Nirmitee Robotics India uses a fleet of small remote-controlled crawler robots, developed by its own R&D team and patented, to inspect and clean the inside of HVAC air ducts. The robots go into ducts that people cannot reach, and are used only in Nirmitee's own duct cleaning service, not sold. Each robot is built for one job: survey and camera robots inspect the duct before and after cleaning, brush and scrubber robots loosen dust and debris with rotating brushes, suction robots remove it, and pneumatic and ozone-spray robots finish the work, after which the ducts are sterilised with ozone gas. All the robots have a controller and a high-resolution camera, so the whole job is recorded on video for the client. The company says it has found and removed dead birds, rats and animal waste from ducts this way. The technology was developed with assistance from the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology in 2015. Nirmitee says it has cleaned 2,500 HVAC ducts with them, for offices, hotels, convention centres, hospitals, train and bus coaches, aircraft, data centres and operation theatres. It publishes no numeric specifications for them.
