Underwater Anie is Topy Industries' underwater survey and cleaning robot for water-supply reservoirs and tanks. It cleans and inspects without draining the reservoir and without workers or divers entering the water, which is safer and more hygienic and addresses the shortage of divers. The crawler-driven robot, built on Topy's own undercarriage design for good rough-terrain performance, crawls along the bottom vacuuming a 400 mm wide path. An operator with Japan's underwater robot cleaning construction-manager qualification controls it and its camera from the surface; the camera has 720p resolution, 10x optical zoom, +/-120 degrees pan and 90 degrees up / 70 degrees down tilt with adjustable LED lighting. It measures 476 x 424 x about 322 mm, weighs about 23 kg in air, moves at up to about 12 cm/s, is rated to 40 m depth and runs on AC 100 V through a 50 m tether (100 m optional). It is used to clean municipal distribution reservoirs, photographed with the Japan Water Robot Cleaning Association, and Topy is extending it to sedimentation tanks, storage tanks and factory water-treatment facilities.
